Course Outline
- Chainsaw safety legislation and standards
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements for chainsaw use
- Pre-operational inspection and maintenance of chainsaws
- Chain sharpening, tensioning and replacement
- Safe cutting techniques including bore cuts, back cuts and scarf cuts
- Trimming and cross-cutting felled trees
- Hazard identification and risk assessment
- Emergency procedures
Assessment type: Theory and Practical
On successful completion of being deemed competent you will receive a Statement of Attainment and a plastic industry wallet card issued by QTLT RTO 40931.
Prerequisites
- Minimum 17 years of age to sit the assessment
- Proficient in English
- Phone, iPad or computer with camera if doing online theory
A short literacy and numeracy test will be required.
